Jonas Claesson

It has been four years since Jonas’s last exhibition with Polu Gallery in 2019. Jonas Claesson's next exhibition, "REFRACTION,” at Polu Gallery Hale'iwa from April 29th til May 14th, 2023, where Jonas will meet his fans.

He is a unique Scandinavian artist who combines his two skills, surfing, and art, in his endless creativity.

Jonas will present his new originals and prints and spontaneously catch the waves of Hawai'i Nei. Over ten pieces of unique artwork will be open to visitors and buyers in Polu Gallery Hale'iwa.

Jonas describes his work: “Refraction is what causes light to bend and slow down in the water, just as being in the ocean can cause life to slow down and change direction."

Jonas creates his imaginary world and scoops us in by using his endless creativity and hand-drawn originally on his unique pieces. His mediums are mostly ink and watercolor, and his characters are usually animals. His veterinarian partner, his toddler, and the life close to the ocean inspire him. He invites us to experience the "eternal moment.”

Jonas has a unique way of picturing a perfect sunset, the "chill vibes" of the surf scene, and the joy his cartoonish animal characters bring to the paper and into our hearts.

We are so happy to share this experience with you in our Hale'iwa gallery.

Jonas is one of the most famous artists in the Polu Gallery. His work "Whale Shark" now reminds thousands of art lovers of the glory and stillness of the ocean in the comfort of their homes.

His book "Surfing Animals Alphabet" shows his true spirit as a surfer and creative, skilled to put his two loves, art and surfing, together.

The exhibition opening is on April 29th, Saturday, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

We would love to see you there. Join us to experience art and meet with Jonas and his family.
